He nods. “Not a word, hm?” He closes his eyes to concentrate, testing the air around Shadow for magic. There’s just enough there for him to maybe get away with a few mind-reading spells. “… Are you terribly adverse to the idea of mind-reading, sir?”
What an odd question. Shadow tilts his head to the side, then gives it a shake — no, not really. After all, he has nothing to hide, does he? He wonders what he could possibly want to do with it, though. Some form of communication, perhaps?
He supposes he’s about to find out.
He frowns, retracts his name, and squints at him awkwardly. “… Does your name happen to be Shadow?”
Then he gets an idea. “… Actually, can you speak at all?”
A nod, a shake. Indeed, his name is Shadow, but no, he cannot speak. And, well… it is a little difficult.
He tilts his head to the side. How does this one know him? He doesn’t recall having ever met a skunk in his entire lifetime.
Really? Aw, I’m sorry…! I should make more of an effort to visit! I mean, I know you can’t return conversation the same way you used to, but still… It must be so sad to be alone.
Shadow’s ears lower. In truth, yes, he… has been feeling at least a little lonely. But it isn’t about him, is it? It’s about Mobius’s safety. It’s always been about Mobius’s safety, and he doesn’t want the attention drawn to an insignificant trail of Chaos energy when it can be focused on the matter at heart, the reason he is the way he is.
He simply nods in response, not quite knowing what to think or say, besides the fact he hopes that she does not pity him.
(Shadow…?) He decides to play it safe and not assume the hedgehog’s identity. “Good evening, sir.” He extends a hand to him. “Ixis Geoffrey St. John of the Royal Army; pleased to meet you.”
It’s unfortunate, but the faded hedgehog can’t exactly answer Geoffrey. All he manages to do is give a short nod, hoping that he doesn’t try to ask for his name. Sometimes, interactions with living beings could be so awkward…
He doesn’t try to grasp at that hand, either. Last time he tried touching a living being, they just went straight through him — and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Ah, Amy. Shadow perks his ears, then shakes his head at the question. He may or may not have looked a little eager to have any kind of company, let alone from the spunky pink hedgegirl.
That’s interesting. In all of Spectre’s experiences, he can’t remember a single time that he has ever seen a winged version of himself. Fanciful ideas float in his head, ideas of what those wings could possibly signify, what he could possibly do with them. What kind of sensation is flying? The only comparison he has is his journey through space, and that was a burning, a burning as it tore every fabric of his existence except for the ring and what he was mainly made out of — Chaos energy.
He raises an eye ridge as he observes his other self, an unspoken question in his eyes.
Uh, Shadow? You feeling ok buddy? You don’t look so good….
Hm. It’s been a while since anyone has dared to try to communicate with him. He’s almost forgotten how another voice sounds.
Well, scratch that. He knows. Just for it to sound so present…
He lowers an ear, swivels it back, mostly out of habit rather than out of any sensation; he doesn’t even feel the action in itself as anything other than a displacement of Chaos energy. Today he’s feeling better than his usual, his eyes sharpened and his senses aware, but to a Sonic whose Shadow is still alive, perhaps that doesn’t look so much ‘better’ at all.
With that, he decides to give him a shake of the head.
